I love sushi masa you get a lot for your money. Everything tastes great. I love the all you can menu

This place is decent. I would definitely 110% choose Ichiban ( in the same parking lot) over it any day......unless Ichiban is closed as it was this time I visited. They have this offer $22.95 for all you can order and eat (you must eat it or they will up charge you) from a menu. Most of the appetizers and salads are delicious. But the majority (95%) of their rolls contain snowcrab and something. Not much variety. I personally like maguro (which is more expensive) in my rolls but Sushi Masa only has one of those on their $22.95 menu. You will get full and you can sit there for hours. The service is a little slow especially on drinks but the place overall ain't bad.

One of my personal favorites, when it comes to the all you can eat sushi, I normally run here during lunch timer hours to get the 15$ deal as it covers a majority of the sushi I normally eat and I have a pal that I go with. The sushi is simply Divine, though I have to admit, when I gave a great recommendation to a friend, it turned out not so great for him so I couldn't give this place a 5 star rating, but this is my review for the place, not his so until I get a bad day I'll leave it at 4 stars.

I am giving Sushi Masa a 5 star rating based on the combination of quality, quantity and price. Yes there are sushi restaurants near by that are of the same quality or better (Ichiban is in the same plaza and literally 100 feet away..hm), but you won't find a better all-you-can eat deal in town. For about 15 dollars you choose endless servings from a special menu. Don't worry, this is a solid menu with everything you'd need including drinks, appetizers, noodle dishes, special rolls and tempura. The place is very clean and the staff is professional. Oh and check out the bathrooms. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie going in there. No, in a good way. ADVICE: Go at lunch time. The all you can eat dinner deal is the same exact thing only 7 dollars more for some reason. ALSO, don't order what you can't eat. They will charge you the full price of that item if you do not finish it. I did order a roll I disliked and our server was nice enough to let it slide, but I can't guarantee that happens all the time. Sounds kind of sketchy, I know, but just take your time and trust your stomach! Oh and enjoy!

Great sushi. Fast and fresh. Best service I have had at any restaurant in a while. All you can eat for $15.95 and includes any salad you want and plenty of sushi and rolls to choose from. Don't pass this place up!

I literally have dreams about their all-you-can deal when I get in the mood for sushi. I usually go with a group of friends and we all get the all-you-can-eat and share family style. It's a great way to get to try some of everything! Their sushi is good but I'm always impressed most by their appetizers and salads. They also include sashimi in the deal which is awesome. If you are a sushi fan you have to try this place for the experience.

One of my favorite sushi places in Baton Rouge. The sushi is very good and always fresh. Try the LSU roll....so yummy.

For what it would cost for salads and appetizers and drinks at another sushi retaurant the wife and I and our two children enjoyed several specialty rolls at Sushi Masa today. Everything we had was average or better. The crunchy crunchy roll, masa roll, and dynamite roll were all really good. The mexican roll and I-10 roll were less flavorful. Overall we could not have enjoyed a sushi lunch more for that price.

  • Alex K.

I ordered take out. The food was good but they were a bit slow on the order. They didn't start until I got there even though the place was empty. I'll probably try the buffet next.

    Service and sushi is ok.

When Masa first opened, their concept was cool. Everything cane fast with great service. Now it is priced way too high for the degraded quality. The "sushi chefs" , if they can be called such, do not seem concerned with making food at all... just horseplay and jokes.

This place is amazing. Most all you can eat sushi places start out good and then start going downhill but not sushi masa. They have an excellent selection of rolls and will give you all you can eat sashimi at dinner. You have to order in increments of 20 and they are small slices but you can keep going back as many times as you want which is awesome! They get pretty busy at dinner on weekends but the food is great. The service can be a little slow when the place is packed but I refer back to the magic words: all you can eat.

I have so much to say ab this place, so bare w me... I've heard a lot about this place from friends and thought it was too good to be true. I mean, all you can eat sushi for $25 is unheard of. Especially after years of going to places like ichiban and paying a crapload of money, and still being hungry. But when I went the other night w a few friends, I was blown away by the entire experience! So I'm giving this place 5 stars just bc I've never experienced anything as awesome as this. First of all, if you haven't gone yet.. Then GO!!! Second of all, there's this all you can eat sushi deal for ab $25. (The catch here is you have to finish everything or pay for each individual item that you do not finish.) Anyways, if u have a big appetite, it shouldn't be a problem. They have everything from sashimi to sushi to specialty rolls to soups (if that's what you're in the mood for). Also, dessert and drinks are all you can eat and drink as well! Of all we ordered (and we ordered a lot!) My favorites were the eel, the mango salmon rolls, and pretty much all the specialty rolls. For dessert my friends got chocolate and green tea ice cream! I got the strawberry w a couple rounds of deep fried Cheesecake!!! (Btw.. Who does that!? .. Who deep fries cheesecake!?!) Also I've got to give a major round of applause to the service here! The Service was amazing! They let me on their wifi for a fantasy football draft, and even took my friends phone to the back and charged it for her! Also more importantly they checked in w us often and pleasantly answered any questions I had. In conclusion, this place is #AmazeBalls!!! Please go check it out if you haven't already. I'll def be back soon!

Came here for the all you can eat sushi. I am really disappointed because even if its all you can eat there's a small catch you'll have to eat all the food you ordered or else they'll charge anything food that's still on the plate. We were surprised to have seen what was written on the menu. I also had food poisoning came home extremely sick vomiting. Never again!

Just had lunch here today with my family. The waiter Andrew was rude, unattending, and impatient throughout the entire time. We felt that we were "walking on egg shells." The food was good, but our service was terribly poor.

  • Miss C.

Super delicious. We had the all you can eat dinner. The sushi is super fresh & high quality. I will definitely return here. I love the mix & match flexibility between kitchen items & sushi. The J&J & the crunchy crunchy were the 2 table faves, however I prefer raw sushi. At around $25 bucks per person it is the best dinner value around in my opinion. I can't say enough good things about this place.

It's pretty rare these days that I'm absolutely surprised by how good a restaurant is. When I first heard of Masa's all you can eat made to order deal, I was fairly skeptical. Now I've been back a few times already and every time I just can't get over how good and fresh the food is. This last time I went for lunch for my birthday and was slightly disappointed that the sashimi wasn't on the lunch menu, but I got over that real quick. The pepper tuna and tuna tataki are two of my favorites here. That said, there isn't much to go wrong with. Occasionally if you order a lot something might get left off, but you can just tell them and they'll bring it next time. The service is always good, the meals are always spectacular and if you go for dinner you even get an alcoholic beverage included with your food. This restaurant is a great concept and the only complaint I have is that they need to open another one on my side of town... I hate fighting Essen lane traffic.

Good sushi, reasonable prices, good service, and good presentation. Though a little more expensive than some of the other buffet places around town, this one is positively a cut above the rest. I first walked into this place before they "re-opened". Originally it was another copy-cat serve yourself buffet place, but that didn't last long, and I'm glad the owners decided to change it up. After my first visit since the change, I've been hooked, and I have probably been to this place at least 20 times now. I love bringing new people here for a bit of food adventure. Now I wouldn't say that I am a sushi expert, but it is one of my favorite foods and this place really fills my cravings. There are two ways you can tackle the menu: either all you can eat or pay as you go. For me, it's a no brain-er to go with the AYCE. Also, keep in mind that even though it is lunch time you are not barred from getting the dinner menu for AYCE. The benefit here is a few of their premium items (sashimi including yellowtail or hamachi and a few specialty items like mango salmon and tuna tar-tar) and instead of the included soft drink you can get an alcoholic beverage. I have noticed that they go easy on the alcohol in mixed drinks, so I usually go with the sake instead. If you are at Sushi Masa, chances are you are coming for the sushi. In my opinion, best quality sushi fish in Baton Rouge even better than the non-buffet types (tried Tsunami, Nagoya, Tokyo Cafe, Ichiban, etc.). I have noticed that since I first started coming, the fish pieces for AYCE have gotten much smaller, but that doesn't really matter when it's AYCE (at one point before reducing the once ample sizes they tried a 10 piece sashimi / nigiri limit). Their rolls are pretty tasty too and they have plenty of other options (e.g. unlimited beef teriyaki, edamame, tempura, fried rice or noodles, gyoza, etc.). In terms of a buffet, this place is made to order. So really if you order off their AYCE or (ab)-normal menu, it's all the same stuff. Be sure to preempt your next serving by placing an order before you are done eating to make the experience more "too many plates on the table-Viking-like" (they do have a disclaimer that you are supposed to pay for uneaten food, but I have yet to experience this). Presentation is pretty surprising sometimes too (how about sashimi served in a martini glass with LED light effects?!?). If you go with a group, one of your AYCE receipts will have what everyone in the party (or most of it) ordered, which can bring a laugh or two. The atmosphere is nice too. Since it is not a standard buffet, they can afford to decorate a little better and turn down the lights for a little better atmosphere. The whole restaurant is really clean including the restrooms. You will be surprised how much your $24 (used to be $22.95) will buy you. Sushi Masa is highly recommended, and in all the times I have been there, they have never failed to keep me satisfied.

$15 for all you can eat sushi? Yeah, this place is worth it. Also, you can order as much as you want at a time. Just make sure you eat everything you order or you can get charged, which makes sense

My son took me to Sushi Masa for lunch recently. We decided to do the "all you can eat lunch"! Our waitress, Kwan, was so helpful in suggesting great rolls! The Caterpillar was one of her suggestions and we LOVED it. We also enjoyed the Masa roll. The rolls are made just for you and I liked that. I loved the aquarium in the front and the place is clean, soothing and pretty! I would definitely go back for lunch or dinner. The dinner menu offers more specialty rolls!

  • Jonathan L.

Let me start off by saying that the service was great here. I went on a Saturday and our waitress came to check up on us every three to five minutes to see if we wanted to order any additional rolls. Sushi Masa is not the typical sushi buffet restaurant. You order the dishes you want, as many as you want. There is no sushi bar. Also, be warned, you must eat at least 70-80 percent of the dish before you order another one or you will be charged for the ones left over. What makes this stand out compared to Nagoya, another sushi buffet in BR, is that it offers tempura rolls. If you love fried sushi, this is the place for you! The teriyaki chicken was also quite tasty however I found the chicken to be a little dry even with the sauce. The sushi I enjoyed most was the petite cucumber wrap sushi with imitation crab. A must try if you visit here. I also tried the ice cream here, both the green tea and red bean ice cream. The green tea ice cream is definitely better than the one at Nagoya in that it tastes more like green tea. Now for the cons, I found some of their rolls (the larger ones) to use non-sticky rice which made the individual rolls fall apart. It was a mess! Keep in mind that the service is fast during the weekend. I didn't have to wait more than 3-5 minutes for my next rolls to arrive. However, it gets really busy during the weekdays (e.g. expect to wait 5-10 minutes per dish to arrive at your table). For me, I think I will be sticking with Nagoya for now since I hate waiting no matter how short the waiting time is. Nagoya lunch buffet is around 11-12 dollars while the sushi masa buffet is 14-15 dollars but also includes a drink.

Staff wasn't to friendly. Majority of the rolls on the sushi buffet wasn't great. The snowcrab is so dry! The batters they don't cook it fully through!! Fried rice was ok but that's probably the only thing I liked. Everything else wasn't great at all!! But food did came out on time!

  • Brandon T.

The comparison between Ichiban and this restaurant is completely unfair. Sushi Masa is catered toward the buffet style all you can dine mentality for a set price. Ichiban is a la carte and a different environment. The sushi here is decent but you can notice a lesser quality. Stir fry is great and you order the sushi as you want it. I personally cannot eat a large amount of food in one sitting, so the price to dine here vs the food is not justifiable for me. But if you come hungry you will definitely find that it is worth the price! Beware though. I've heard that there is a specific parking lot you must park in as the area to the side of this restaurant does not belong to Sushi Masa so you may get towed.

All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Lunch for $14.95, super fresh and delicious! Real Japanese Sushi Chefs making the rolls, so you know that it's good!

I had my first experience with Sushi Masa last night, and it will NOT be my last! The sushi was excellent, the service was great, and the price was right! Very pleased.

Absolutely love this all you can eat sushi place!!! Definitely the best sushi restaurant in Baton Rouge! All you can eat is so worth it. Less than thirty dollars for all you can eat dinner. Order all the appetizers, soup, salad, sashimi, hibachi, grilled entrees, fried rice, noodles, rolls, specialty rolls, and dessert you want! So worth it!! I come here regularly

My two friends and I went here for dinner, it was a pretty good experience. One of my friends have never tried Japanese food before so we were very excited. We decided to do the all you can eat dinner for $23 each. It is NOT a buffet, it is fresh and made to order. We order the Crunchy Crunchy Roll (OUR FAVORITE), Dragon Roll (too much avocado), LSU roll, Golden Dragon and Double Spicy Tuna. For appetizers we got the harumaki, tempura and fried calamari. It was so delicious, don't be afraid to ask for sauces! Spicy mayo goes good with everything. We came at around 8pm and 9:30pm is when the all you can eat service ends so we had to order a lot of items due to hunger. That was a mistake. Limit yourself to a max of 2 rolls. My other friend order a dinner combo of that consists of miso soup, salad, fried rice with chicken and steak for $20. The chicken and steak was dry and it hibachi style. Customer service was AMAZING. Our waiter was very nice and attentive despite running around catering to other customers. Warning though : green mussels take 10-15minutes to make :( . At the end of the night we had leftovers and since we chose the buffet option we had to pay extras for leftovers. Since it was so late the manager was nice enough to only charge us $4 rather than $30 and let us take it home. So make sure to come early and don't let hunger control how much you order! Overall pleasant experience, I will come again.

I have been here a couple times, always with friends. Everyone seems to have good things to say. I have had most of their sushi from the all-you-can-eat selection and have liked it. It's a much higher quality that the sushi buffets around here. The cooked entrees are small in size and tasty. I took myself and three people here for dinner and the total came to $111.11 with tax and tip. The all-you-can-eat selection came with one free drink for everyone. Also, try the tofu dishes; they're surprisingly good. I would also encourage people to try the one-piece bites to get a sense of the variety. Another thing that stood out was their rainbow roll. Try it. Bring an appetite.

Need sushi? A lot of it? Now? Well, here is your place. It is certainly not even close to the best, but you will live, get your fix and even have solid bowel movements afterward! The food delivery is a bit slow, but the servers are attentive. I am a bit scared to know how they are able to sell the food so cheap. Ignorance is bliss.

I took my roommate out to celebrate the fact that he survived his first year of law school. We both love sushi, and we sort of ended up there on accident. We got the all you can eat dinner, which was a great deal. For $22.95, you can get all you can eat sushi, appetizers, salads and entrees; you can also get your first drink in the meal. I had an apple martini to go with the meal, and that was awesome. The apple martini was decent -- not the best I have had but not the worst. I really enjoyed all the rolls I had. There were way too many of them for me to talk about all the ones that I had. I enjoyed them all, and the presentation was absolutely astounding. It was an awesome experience, especially with how nice and helpful our waiter was. It was packed, but he still managed to keep our drinks full and he was friendly without hovering. Overall, It was a fantastic experience and I will be returning.

  • Heather F.

This place is pretty yum as far as AYCE sushi goes. The fact that the rolls are made to order rather than a typical buffet-style restaurant is a definite plus for me. Some of the highlights include the Crazy Yellowtail Roll, LSU Roll, Salmon Naruto Roll, and the fried cheesecake (duh.) Tuesday nights college students receive 10% off with student ID.

Food tastes great. Service is horrendous. Food comes out at different times, and takes ENTIRELY too long. some food "forgotten". One meal came out ONE HOUR late-after everyone had eaten. We are NOT coming back.

No. Nuh huh. No way. I've had better. I dont exactly enjoy this place- only for the quality of food (which is EVERYTHING to me). The decor is nice; clean, modern, asian. The service was friendly and great! The menu looked decently priced for the amount of food I was to receive. But the food.... ........I'm part asian and when someone gives me that "instant rice", I about gag... I hate fake rice. Asians- you know what i mean.... So thats strike 1... Strike 2 is that the crab was fake as well. It just had that "grocery store taste" to the sushi.. I dont like grocery store sushi. If i wanted Grocery store sushi, i would have saved $10 and went to the grocery store across the street. I've only been here once and got 2 sushi rolls (the common- Cali Roll {to test- who can mess up a Cali Roll?!} and a spicy tuna roll) and both I did not like. I would much rather spend a little more money and get better quality raw fish or sushi. Maybe the appitizers are better. Maybe the entrees are better. But I would not return for the sushi. No. Nuh huh. No way.

  • Johnny D.

All you can eat from the sushi menu is a great concept but the portions served are oddly small when getting sashimi. Staff seems to not come around as often as they would at a regular sushi spot so snag a seat at the sushi bar. This way the chef can't escape your refill requests as you wipe out their inventory of surf clam and salmon sashimi. The rolls are very good as are the kitchen items.

Went for lunch and got the all you can eat for $14.95 including a drink. I'm not going to tell you that it's the best sushi or Japanese food in town, but it's hard to beat for the price. Service was good too but the place was relatively empty so not sure how well the "all you can eat" from a menu would work when it's more crowded. You do have to eat everything you order which was no problem for me :-) But the waiter said the charge was only a couple of bucks. I'll be back again.

AWESOME CONCEPT! This is an all you can eat "original made fresh to order" buffet. We were pleasantly welcomed by the hostess, quickly seated, given hot towels, a menu and offered something to drink. The service was absolutely terrific and the food top notch! The wait staff here, is very knowledgable, courteous, fast, friendly and well worth a bare minimum of 20% gratuity. Our water glasses never not once got half full, and our waitress never once missed a beat. I felt the wait staff to be worthy of a Commander's Palace wait staff. My compliments to all the employees and owners for making this establishment a top notch 5 star restaurant! Congrats Sushi Masa! We welcome you to Baton Rouge and long standing success here in our community. I am an outside sales rep and will continuously bring clients to eat here for lunch! Normally, at buffets and all you can eat establishments, we tip 10%-15% based on service. The wait staff at this establishment, you will find, even though it is an all you can eat, the decor, hospitality, atmosphere and service project a 5 star restaurant of find dining. Once you taste the food...delicious, no way would you ever think you are eating in an establishment that provides an all you can eat sushi/japanese cuisine. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant to all sushi connoisseurs, especially ones who are on a budget. It is a pay one price, all you can eat, yet, made fresh to order, nothing at all is premade, everything is made fresh to order!!! From appetizers, to noodles, to sushi, to entrees, to dessert and more, all made fresh to order and every dish is the quality of a 5 star establishment! This is no way in the world your typical all you can eat buffet, EVERYTHING, I MEAN EVERYTHING, IS MADE FRESH TO ORDER! The only draw is you must....Be careful, do not over order or you will be assessed full price for the food you leave, order in spurts and order as often as you like! Actually, I am glad they have this policy, it encourages you to order and eat until you are full, and not waste food, especially with starving countries out there, so we did not mind clearing our plates here! We had edamame, baked seafood, shrimp tempura, chicken & beef terriyaki, all kind of sushi, tuna tataki, tuna tartar, everything on the menu is included and this is an unbelievable awesome experience! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL!!! *****5 STARS*****

I've been to this place a total of 3 times now. First 2 times, the buffet were great, with great service and good sushi for the price. On 6/24 I returned for lunch and was extremely dissappointed. Order some tuna tataki, sushi (tuna, salmon, and eel), dragon roll and crunch roll. The salmon and tuna sushi were not fresh and you can clearly tell from the color. The order of eel sushi had a paper thin piece of eel on rice. The dragon roll was 95% rice, cucumber, avocado and less than 5% eel (you had to look closely to even see that there was eel in the roll). The crunch roll was the same and had a small piece of crab stick in the middle (its like they took half a crab stick and made it into a roll). Needless to say, if you come here and order sushi and rolls from the buffet, you will be sorely dissapointed because you will be eating mostly rice, cucumber avocado and bad fish.

I am a big fan of sushi masa. Is it the best sushi in town? Probably not. But it's definitely the best deal in town for sushi. All you can eat, with many options (including things other than sushi). I do recommend going for lunch, instead of dinner. It's cheaper at lunch and I don't find the additional items on the dinner menu worth the additional price. I always leave full and satisfied, for less than half of what I would spend anywhere else in town.

  • Dre A.

If you're a fan of sushi but limit your ventures into sushi bliss because of the so sad price tag -- Sushi Masa is a must for you. I had the $14.95 all you can eat sushi lunch and feel like I came out a winner. The sushi I ordered was fresh and made to order and would have cost me more than $15.00 bucks at your typical spot. I did notice that as my lunch progressed - the sushi chefs packed on more rice to the pieces -- so watch out. As others have pointed out - service is on point. I enjoyed the decor of Sushi Masa's interior - and give them an extra round of applause for having impeccable bathrooms (clean bathrooms = clean kitchens or so I have convinced myself to believe!). I will be back - and with all this talk of sushi --it will probably be tomorrow.

Not the typical sushi buffet line, the sushi is made to order and brought to your table! Pretty good flavor and well worth the ~$14.95 for lunch. My Favorite roll was the Double Spicy Roll and I loved the Snow Crab and Spicy Kani Salad. Definitely returning next time I'm in Baton Rouge.

This place is awesome...we have eat here a bunch of times...we don't like raw sushi, but their all you can eat menu that includes cooked items is the best. Service is great and if you don't know about an item your server will be happy to let you know what it is and what's in it, just ask. Peter was our server and we ask for him every time weI come here. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we do. We give this place 5 stars.

I had an exceptional experience, the waiter had a great personality, the food is not what you would expect from an all you can eat place. When we first heard about it we found the website that had the menu and said 'All You Can Eat which we automatically thought 'Buffet Restaurant', not the case, the food is 'sit down restaurant' quality and freshness. I would recommend going here to anyone. Lunch (what I had) was only $13.95 for All You Can Eat and came with the drink, dinner is $21.95 and comes with one alcoholic drink. They do offer a 'regular' menu which can be purchased off of in lue of the dinner

This was a Saturday night dinner. We were there at six o'clock and were quickly seated, as the dinner rush had not quite started. Our waiter was not the best, it was comical how bad he was. He acted as if our being there kept him from doing nothing else, all dinner long, he did not improve. Most of the cuts of fish were fresh, I had the Saba, my favorite, but was so disappointed because it was absolutely not fresh. My husband had the "all you can eat". This isn't a new concept to us, lots of restaurants in back home do this, and it was made perfectly clear that he could not share any of his dishes with me, as I was not participating in the "all you can eat". I was always taught that you can judge a good Sushi by the rice, the fish and the wasabi. The rice is great, the fish, except the Saba, was fresh and the wasabi could have been stronger. All in all this was a great dinner, but it really did cater to a younger crowd. We'll keep searching for a better sushi restaurant. Thanks thought.

  • Rami Q.

This place is always a favorite when my friends or family want to get together. Easily one of my top 3 sushi places aside from Ichiban and Sushi Yama. Pros - The all you can eat is an awesome value. For around $25 a head you have a select all you can eat menu made fresh to order. Has everything from Sushi, Sashimi, Fried Rice, Apps, and Teriyakis. Sushi is always pretty good and they have a good selection of specialty rolls. We usually go with a group of 6 or so and eat family style and that's the way to go trust me. Every Sunday they have bottomless Mimosas as well for $8. Cons - Service and food timeliness can be hit or miss. Still rating 5 stars based off our experience this evening. Our server Dena (sp?) was exceptional. She was very attentive, never had to ask for refills, made sure our order was correct and was very clear with her communication. Our food came out super fast as well and we were probably done within an hour and a half or so. Keep in mind we order A LOT.

I would give this place a 5 or 4 stars, but my orders were either late or brought to the wrong table. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, so there goes one star. Our waitress was friendly & accommodating, so one star right there & another star bc of the all you can eat sushi. I know it was a Saturday and it was busy. But all of my friends (4 of us) ordered appetizer & EVERYONE appetizers came out fast except for mines. Same thing with the sushi rolls and the sashimi!! And of course, I ate the least in the group. My masa roll was brought to the wrong table, & it took so long I forgot about it until a friend asked about my food. I ordered 4 spicy tuna & scallop sashimi, that took long as well. And when my food came out I had already forgotten what I had order... So next time I dine here with my friends, THEY are ordering food for me. LOL

Ok. Finally reviewing one of my fav sushi place. Price for AYCE: $15.95 for lunch/ $24.95 for dinner. I like their dinner selection bc there is a larger variety for All You Can Eat sushi rolls and sashimi. They have a large selection of cooked food also, for those that are not into the raw stuff. My favorite go-to-item is the salmon mangos, which are small slices of mangos, wrapped with a thin cut of salmon sashimi-style cut, and drizzle with a savory house-made sauce. I usually start the order w/ 15 pieces/round bc of their size. Lol My next fav is of course their Naruto rolls: Salmon Naruto, Yellowtail Naruto and Tuna Naruto. Naruto rolls are rolled with thin carved cucumber instead of rice + Nori (seaweed) paper; and drizzled with ponzu sauce. The sashimi pieces are smaller, but still good. You would be surprise with their high quality base on a AYCE expectations. There is a large selection of regular sushi rolls and special rolls. The LSU Rolls, Samurai Roll, Double J Roll, Baby Tiger Roll--- are just a few that I would recommend. The cooked stuff: tempura veggies (eggplant, sweet potatoes, mushroom, etc); age tofu (literally melts in your mouth kind of goodness ), hibachi/teriyaki protein dishes; shumai and gyoza dumplings; udon noodles; fried rice; etc. When I say that their fried rice is "off the chain," believe me. I'm Asian. I know my rice! Hahahaha Make sure to save room for dessert! Fried cheesecake with a scoop of green tea ice cream!!

The all you can eat option is stupendously ridiculous! I ate at least $90 worth of sushi (per the a la carte pricing) and got an adult beverage for $24.95. Now that's a deal! I was expecting mediocre sushi, but was really surprised by the sushi quality. It was GOODT! Yes, GOODT! The Bubba Gump Roll and the Snow White Roll are to die for! Just those are worth the price! But you can also get things other than sushi for that $24.95. You can get salads, soups, cooked fish (the teriyaki salmon looked good), and other things. Give the Sushi Masa AYCE option a try, you'll love it!

Came in early dinner time on a week day while I was in town for business. I called ahead to make sure they had uni and they did. Didn't care much for the hostess who was too busy highlighting to greet me right away, but the waiter and sushi chefs we're great. Service was very attentive and in talking with the sushi chef, they were very knowledgeable about sushi, not just rolls. Ordered uni, unagi, spicy yellowtail roll, and ikura. Rice was great, not mushy but held together well. Fish tasted fresh and very reasonably priced. Didn't have any of the specialty rolls but saw plenty of other patrons and to go orders ordering them. I'm more of a traditional sushi diner. Will visit here again when I'm in town.

I've heard a lot about this place from friends so my daughter and I decided to give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant we were not immediately greeted even though the restaurant was not busy. Once acknowledged, the waiter tried to seat us in a section they'd clearly designated for "kids". There were 4-5 families with small children and it was very loud. We asked to be seated somewhere else since my daughter is a teenager. Our waiter introduced himself and took our drink order. When he came back about 10 minutes later, he just put the glasses in the table and left. He finally came back to take our order about 10 minutes after that. We ordered edamame and 2 rolls off the menu. It seemed to take forever for the app to come. The rolls came much quicker and were good. I've definitely had better sushi and have had much better service.

YES YES YES! This restaurant has nailed it. Delicious and fresh, I'm totally into it. Fairly priced on the ala carte menu, but go ahead and just get the all you can eat option and splurge. If you plan on eating at least three rolls it will be cheaper that way while giving you a ton of options. Some of the service is better than others and I'm not quite sure why I have to give my order to a waiter if I'm at the sushi bar. That seems inefficient. I plan on making this a once a week stop.

Lunch buffet for $16 with drink included is a great deal. However, nothing really stood out and scream for me to come back and have it again. Aged tofu, seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, spicy Kani salad were good! Their sushi rolls aren't that good, seaweed was too soggy..but it wasn't bad either! I wouldn't recommend the vegetable tempura or the Shumai! Finished lunch with the green tea ice cream, pretty rich favor. Our waiter John was very polite and took great care of us! Dinner menu has many more options and maybe we'll go back and try it another time!

The Sushi was quite fresh, and the service was highly reasonable for how packed it was on a friday night! I got the spicy combo, and if you're ballin on a budget, but want to eat like a King....err....maybe a prince or a Duke ahah, then you want to go to sushi Masa.

The sushi here is terrific. Lots of house special rolls and good service. You can order your favorites or try out new rolls with their all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. Order as many rolls as you want for a flat price (lunch and dinner). It's a great deal!

I'm from California and I had my fair share of sushi. The serves was really good and our server was helpful and really nice. The food was well made and very good quality. The way of ordering was like any regular restaurant, but with this restaurant you can order as much as you want like a buffet. Then whatever you don't eat you don't get charge for. This place a great place to have sushi at a reasonable price. Their ice cream is also very good. Very few flavors, but still good otherwise.

Fresh fish, good rolls on the all you can eat dinner. We had so much food (salad, soup, appetizer, sashimi, special rolls) and fried cheesecake for dessert for only around $40 per person which is not bad at all for the amount of food and the quality they offer. Don't get a cosmopolitan - not good hence not worth the calories if you know what I mean! Andrew/Drew, our server was great! Very friendly and super knowledable about the menu. When hungry for lots of sushi and hood japanese food, this is the place to go to! It gets 4 stars because of my yucky cosmo!

My husband and I dine here on a regular basis. This is the best sushi in Baton Rouge! We are very picky with our sushi restaurants and were skeptical about the all-you-can-eat menu they offer but tried it anyway. FANTASTIC! for $25 a person for dinner, you get a marvelous selection of sushi, sashimi, rolls, appetizers, desserts, and more! We love the bartender/manager Jamie and the GM Josh. Always very attentive and willing to go the extra mile to make your visit worthwhile. We have not had a bad waiter yet and the foods presentation is very appealing. Love their portioning as they do get give you too much or little per order. The Masa roll and smoked salmon sashimi are my favorites. Don't forget to save room for ice cream or the tempting tempura cheesecake!

So for starters they do a lunch for 15$ unlimited lunch. I don't eat that much so I just order off the regular menu. I got a cucumber salad which was good then the roll I got was so big I had to take two whole bites to eat just one piece. Service was ok kinda pushy. For the price I paid, I could've gone to Ichibans which is one of my favorites. If you plan on eating like you would at a buffet, then it's perfect. Like I said I don't eat that much

  • David F.

Highly recommended. Absolutely love the menu here. So many options. Love the sushi boats and other chef's choice combos-- more choices than most (not all) places in BTR. Also some very creative rolls, along with all the standard ones you'd expect. I like the snow white roll; not overly elaborate, but super tasty. Haven't tried that AYCE sushi bar deal yet, but it's high on my to do list. Service is very friendly, and reasonably prompt. Atmosphere is pleasant, and you can go super casual or dressy or in between. Prices are not cheap, but then, good sushi is not cheap. Cheap sushi is, well, eww. Conclusion: Definitely worth checking out next time you're craving sushi, especially if having lots of options is your thing. Bonus: Also good for kids, as there are some super basic rolls like fried shrimp and even a fried chicken roll.

let me tell you one damn thing about sushi masa.... this place is the 1.1 of a sushi restaurants. there is so much value like tom brady in the 6th round kinda value. i was shocked to see the menu of which i can order from for a grand total of $15.99. some would call that free, i call that a feast. theres not too many places that compare to this lil spot. oh wait they don't. if you don't like this place, starve.

Sushi Masa is a nice sushi restaurant on Essen Lane that I have been going to about once every two months for about the past 2 years. The concept of the restaurant is an all you can eat to order dinner or lunch sushi menu. The menu includes not only sushi but also some appetizers, salads, soups and rice and noodle dishes. If you go for lunch however, you cannot have sashimi but you will have to order sushi(raw fish with the rice on the bottom). The reason this is important is because you MUST finish all the food you order. If you do not you will be charged extra. The ambience of the restaurant is clean and nice. Good place to go with your friends family. I would not recommed it for a date because it is all you can order for 12.95pp or 24.95 pp and two people can only eat so much variety of food. Not worth it. Best to go with a group of 6 or more. The service is wonderful the multiple college students who work here are a pleasure to talk to and all of them are more than willing to accomadate any need you may have. The quality of sushi here is rather high for the all you can eat style of food. The salmon, white tuna, red snapper and octopus are particularly wonderful. The rolls are also really well done and are quite tasty. The rice is properly wet and the ingredients are fresh. Some of the noteworthy appetizers are the mango salmon and tuna tataki. Some good dishes are also the shrimp noodles and teriyaki red snapper filet. The delicious desserts are the ice cream! Be adventurous and try the red bean and green tea flavors! Red bean is particularly delicious. All in all the food is about a 7/10. Service is wonderful 9/10. This restaurant is easily one of the better sushi places in baton rouge! PEACE!

Best sushi for a great price. We went for dinner and did the all you can eat. Our server was great and the menu was perfect because we love the option to practically try everything. My favorite part was my red bean Ice cream and fried cheese cake. But no complaints about any of the menu items his favorite was the spice shrimp and his chicken noodles. We will be back for sure

I came here because I noticed they had ayce sashimi. I live in Cali by the water so had plenty of good sashimi before. The restaurant charges $25/person and they literally give you little slivers of sashimi. I had to order 5 rounds, it started getting on my nerves having to order so many rounds and each time they didn't give me everything I ordered and the cuts of sashimi were getting smaller and thinner. When I asked my server, he said they ran out of a lot of the sashimi and only had white tuna, salmon and one piece of octopus left. Sorry but if your restaurant is running out of food, you need to let the customer know that's in there for sashimi. It wasn't worth my $25 and I was on half a full stomach. What a rip off for mediocre quality sashimi. Service was good, server was attentive so I tipped him well considering I only dined in $25. Never coming back to a place that rips off their customers.

I love the all you can eat Sushi for $14.95. The price is unbelievable and you really can eat as much as you want. The food was fresh and good. However, the one thing that was annoying is since everyone ordered something different everyone's food came out at different times and it seemed like it took awhile although there weren't many people there. Overall I would definitely recommend to someone!

The sushi isn't going to be the best thing you have ever eaten. But at $23/person AYCE including an alcoholic drink, it's great for that price. Unlike sushi buffets, where you have no idea how long the sushi has been sitting out, here everything is made to order. If you do the AYCE, the portion sized of the appetizers and sashimi are smaller, but the rolls (with the exception of the naruto rolls) are normal size, so be warned. You'll naturally fill up on rice based items more quickly, so if your goal is to try a bunch of things, definitely save the rolls as the last thing you eat. I've never ordered off the regular menu, so I can't speak to that. A few of my favorite menu items include: Sunomono salad, mango salmon, yellowtail jalapeño, cucumber wrap, all the naruto rolls, and the fact that I can do AYCE on sashimi.

We went with a group of 12 for the lunch all-you-can-eat sushi. I was really surprised at how efficient the waitress was. The sushi was good and well presented. When you want decent sushi and lots of it this is the place to go!

What an amazing restaurant! As most people have said, the best time to come here is during lunch when their all you can eat menu is only $14.95. It really is all you can eat. Take advantage of this. Come when you haven't eaten all day and feel like you could eat your body weight... Seriously. The only catch is that you'll have to pay for anything you order beyond your stomach's capacity, which is totally fair (and prevents being wasteful!). Don't expect the sushi to taste like the finest sushi around. That's a ridiculous expectation when you can get so much of it at such a great price. Having said that though, the sushi actually is really good. It is way better than buffet style sushi or grocery store sushi. You won't be let down and it won't make you sick after either. Also their appetizers and side dishes are great as well, and you can even get green tea ice cream and a free drink with the deal!! I come here almost every time I'm in Baton Rouge because you cannot find a deal like this just anywhere!!!

Finally, a real sushi bar. Passing through Baton Rouge and usually try a new one each time I do, well after my visit to Sushi Masa, I may not be trying any others. Usually I read reviews first, however this was a last minute thing so when I arrived hungry I was pleasantly surprised to see all you can eat. I was seated at the sushi bar and my waiter Andrew highly recommended it was it was the best overall value and offered variety. Service - Excellent. Genuine, friendly staff, everyone so confident and proud of their location and menu. I enjoyed my meal at the sushi bar with Henri who him and I carried conversation during which. Unlike many sushi bars, they lose the appeal of being able to interact with the sushi chef, this really is the point and completely puts them in a different echelon. Henri was nothing but proud of his sushi, and the passion clearly showed. Absolute pleasure. Food - The all you can eat menu boasts quite the variety, from appetizers, regular and special rolls, sashimi, dessert and even comes with a cocktail. I'm glad I was hungry as I got to try a bevy of different rolls and items. Each was fresh, had unique taste and very pleasing. Completely consistent across the board. Sauces were a high note too. While sure, is it many things you have not had before, no, but all are done their way and done right. Henri even made a roll on a whim was was delicious, see picture. Decor - Per typical, so no fault there, was nicely laid out, however one thing that stood out was CLEAN. Not something you often see. Kudos Overall, easily one of the best sushi experiences I have had. Atmosphere, staff, taste and variety are spot on. I highly encourage everyone to give Sushi Masa a try.

I am traveling from GA and my friend told me this place was a must try! She is so right. For $15.95 at lunch, it's all you can eat sushi and appetizers. The food is made to order and so fresh. We will most definitely back. From beginning to end, everything was great.

Brought the pregnant wife. The all-you-can eat for $25 is a legit good deal. They keep the food coming and I didn't feel judged when I basically ordered one of everything. Randomly great hip-hop Pandora station playing too. And our server was a sweetheart. We'll definitely be back!

It was delicious! I got the masa roll, the bubba gump roll, and the double J roll. The seafood tastes fresh and they have nice plate presentation. I suggest going for the AYCE bc they have a ton of sushi rolls you can choose from, along with nice appetizers, entrees and desserts. You can also have a free complimentary drink with your order. Will definitely be coming back.

My sweetheart and I drove through from Arkansas to Baton Rouge on our way to New Orleans. We were starving and tried this place based on the reviews.... AWESOME! Thank the heavens! Service was great, even with a newbie waiter, extremely fast and on top of it. The sushi was spectacular! This is coming from real sushi eaters. We loved the "Buffet Sushi" option as its not really a buffet. You can order fresh sashimi and nigiri (with rice); as many as you like. I suggest ordering more than 3 or 5 at time since, the serving sizes are small but it's endless! They also have rolls and appetizers as well as salads. Over all the experience was wonderful we were impressed with it. Really Good for Baton Rouge.

Yes! All of it! Great place to try a variety of Japanese cuisine. I am currently getting all 3 desserts because I can - All you can eat for $24.99! Plus, I'm over 6 months pregnant and can't decide on what satisfies my palette. This did the trick. Great service. Quick and informing. Definitely will be back, especially with groups.

Decided to give this place a try. Upon first impression, lovely entrance. Bathrooms were dirty and I should've just left at this point. As I was eating my food I saw a dead bug in my food. Terrible first impression... Completely grossed me out! The waitress was very friendly and apologetic. I'll never come here again not even recommend this place.

Fabuloustaticyumyum! Get more pepper tuna! Cheesecake and ice cream! And Mai tais! So many food! Eat all the food! Mmmmmmmmmm! I want to give a fabulous review that is short and sweet but yelp says it has to be longer so now I'm rambling. Excellent value, excellent food. I'm so full I might die.

I just left here and thought it was essential to let others know that I am now sick and it could possible be FOOD POISONING! I've been to numerous sushi places all around the U.S. and have had every raw dish imaginable but have never once felt this bad after my visit. While I'm on a roll, no pun intended, I should also mention other incidents that have occurred while I was here. The staff was sweeping and cleaning tables including ours while we were trying to enjoy out lunch. My friend went here a while back and experienced something similar to what I am experiencing now. I went to eat here with a group of people and everyone had already received 2-3 rolls before my friend had even received his first order. Will not be going back and I hope others are persuaded by my comment to not go there either.

I love this place! Best bang for your buck and it the food is of above-average quality. I've eaten at so many sushi places over the years. From Los Angeles to Canada and Portland to Mexico. Sushi Masa just carved its way into my Top 5. The wait staff are friendly and personable. I sat at the sushi bar which was a great ideas because the chef (didn't get his name but he's from Hawaii) knows his food and is hilarious to boot. I've come to expect sub-par sushi and service at AYCE joints, this place is an exception to the rule. The chef explained that he orders all his fish fresh--never frozen. I love salmon sashimi and he said he orders it from private charters from the Atlantic and occasionally Scotland. The quality is evident in Sushi Masa's seafood. For $23/person you get an All You Can Eat (AYCE) dinner, made to order selection of sushi, sashimi, combo rolls, appetizers, soup, salad and deserts. Plus, if you are 21+ you get a free drink! For $15/person you get an AYCE lunch which doesn't include sashimi and goes until 2pm. I arrived for dinner and for a mere $30 I had: 1 order of shrimp tempura appetizer 1 fried calamari appetizer 1 order of squid salad (wasn't a fan of the ginger) 1 coca cola 1 hot sake 6 orders of salmon sashimi 6 orders of octopus sashimi 2 orders of escolar sashimi 2 orders of yellow tail sashimi 2 orders of red snapper sashimi 1 order of shrimp sashimi 1 order of tuna tataki 1 dragon roll All in all, I will be back the next time I am in Baton Rouge. Anecdote: The chef shared some great stories, some too epic for Yelp, but our conversation was interrupted by his phone going off and the ringtone was, Let It Go from Frozen. He laughingly explained that it was original. That it was my friend.

This is a local favorite! Come here hungry and order the all you can eat... Regret nothing!!! My friends and I make a point to come out here every chance we can. Service is always good though it's so popular it may be a little slow just because of the amount of patrons.

Great food and service ! The sashimi and sushi were very fresh and good presentation ! For all you can eat in Baton Rouge, this was the second year we came for son college. Every time we were in town , we wanted to make sure to have best sushi here. The server Peter was great, he automatically offered us unlimited sashimi and sushi without waiting and asking !

The fact that they have their all-you-can-eat meals makes Sushi Masa worth the visit. Especially for the sushi lover. But honestly, I feel like I enjoyed the deal more than the sushi. Not because the food was subpar... i mean, it was good... no, simply because I was enamored with an ability - almost a superpower - to order any roll or sashimi that I desired without the devastating consequences of being stuck with a sushi roll i didn't like after ordering it. None of the rolls I ate truly shined as something I had to go back for, but the deal itself is. Especially if you like sushi, can eat a lot, are adventurous and enjoy trying new foods but don't like the idea of wasting money ordering something you aren't sure you'll like. I will be going back. But I think next time I will not get the AYCE special - I'll just try ordering some sushi, just to see if I like the food as much as I liked the deal.
